Regenerative Changemaking

Burnout is not just individual — it reflects how we work, relate, and organize.

We are a Finland-registered nonprofit supporting changemakers
and organizations to move beyond burnout and shift toward
more regenerative ways of working — for people,
communities, and the causes they serve.

Why We Exist

Burnout is widespread across changemaking — from climate and humanitarian work to healthcare and social justice.

Yet it is still too often treated as an individual problem, rather than a reflection of how we work, relate, and organize.

At Regenerative Changemaking, we understand burnout as a systemic signal — climate change in the body.

Just as climate change reflects patterns of extraction and imbalance in our ecosystems, burnout reflects similar patterns in how we live and work — overextension, urgency, disconnection, and unsustainable ways of operating.

We support a shift:

  • from surviving → to thriving
  • from extraction → to regeneration
  • from individual coping → to collective transformation

Our Approach

We work across multiple levels — because burnout doesn’t happen in isolation.

It emerges through the interaction of our bodies, relationships, motivations, and the systems we operate within.

Our approach follows a four-level change process — supporting sustainable transformation over time, from individual experience to organizational systems.

BodyMind

(Somatics and Nervous System)

We begin with the body — working with stress, nervous system regulation, and embodied awareness.

This creates the foundation for sustainable change.

Relations

(Relational dynamics)

We explore how energy, communication, and boundaries move within relationships and teams — strengthening co-regulation, trust, and collaboration.

Shadows

(Inner drivers & patterns)

We bring awareness to unconscious motivations, beliefs, and patterns that drive burnout and shape how we show up.

Systems

(Organizational & wider systems)

We examine the broader systems and structures that shape how work happens — supporting more adaptive and regenerative ways of organizing and contributing.

This integrated approach enables lasting, meaningful change — across individual, relational, and systemic levels.

Our Story

Regenerative Changemaking was founded from lived experience within changemaking fields — where burnout is not the exception, but often the norm.

As practitioners working across humanitarian, climate, and mental health contexts, we witnessed firsthand the limits of approaches that focus only on individual resilience, without addressing the wider systems people are operating within.

Drawing from years of experience in psychotherapy, somatic practice, and systems change, we developed an approach that bridges body-based work, psychology, and organizational thinking — supporting change that is not only personal, but relational and systemic.

Today, we work with individuals and organizations committed to creating meaningful impact — in ways that are sustainable, regenerative, and aligned with the values they seek to uphold.

Regenerative Changemaking is a nonprofit organization registered in Finland. The organization was co-founded by Marion Brastel and Erinn Woodside in 2021, with Kalim Ul-Masih joining as a founding board member in 2025 and Anna Demartini as Finance Advisor.

Burnout is not a personal failure.
It is a systemic signal.

And it can be transformed.
